The First Portuguese Meeting of Biometry and the First Portuguese-Galician Meeting of Biometry will take place from 14th till 16th of July 2013, in the Escola de Ciências, at the University of Minho in Braga. The meetings are organized by the Portuguese Statistical Society (SPE) and by the Galician Society for the Advancement of Statistics and Operations Research (SGAPEIO).
These meetings are directed to professionals and statisticians, academics, researchers and students.
The main goals are:
The scientific program of the meetings includes a short course, plenary lectures by invited speakers, and refereed (oral and poster) communications.

- To reinforce the projection of Statistics in the broad field of Biometry.
- To enhance the action of the societies involved to new sectors of the Bio-Sciences.
- To promote the interchange and to intensify the relations within each community and between the two statistical societies.
The scientific program of the meetings includes a short course, plenary lectures by invited speakers, and refereed (oral and poster) communications.
These Biometry meetings are part of the celebrations of the International Statistical Year (Statistics 2013), joining more than 1,400 organizations, including SPE and SGAPEIO, in order to promote the importance of Statistics in all aspects of the human society. |
The Meetings of Biometry are supported by the network BioStatNet (Galiza), Center of Statistics and Applications, University of Lisbon (CEAUL) and Department of Mathematics and Applications (DMA) and Centre of Mathematics (CMat), University of Minho.
